About Royal Westmoreland

The Royal Westmoreland Estate is in the Parish of St James, on the west coast of Barbados overlooking the Platinum coast.

Established in the mid 1990s, Royal Westmoreland set a new standard as the first in a new style of Barbados villa community away from the developments of the island’s famous West Coast, and still maintains its position as the most private and exclusive Barbados villa community.

Royal Westmoreland’s Caribbean-style villas and townhouses are situated around the estate’s 500 acres and championship golf course, offering beautiful views of the fairways and the coast.

Many of the villas have been designed by renowned architects Ian Morrison and Larry Warren using traditional features borrowed from Bajan plantation houses.

One of Royal Westmoreland’s greatest attractions is its tranquility and seclusion. Located on a ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Royal Westmoreland’s gated community and private championship golf course are a short drive inland from the coast, yet a world away from the bustle and activity of the beachfront.

Owners and guests like to maintain this tranquility and privacy, so access is granted by appointment only. Only a small percentage of the Royal Westmoreland villas and townhouses is available for holiday rental, most being kept as second homes.

Leisure resort magnate John Morphet acquired the Royal Westmoreland Estate in 2004, and continues to invest, with exciting plans to develop the estate further.
